Five Points to Follow for a Perfect Pool

Pick a day of the week during the summer months to follow this simple procedure, the same day of each week if possible. During the winter months, follow this procedure every other week.

  1. Backwash filter until water coming out is clear. Rinse for 15 seconds. Return valve to filter position
  2. Fill automatic chlorine feeder with 3-inch tablets. Use trichlor Tabs ONLY!
  3. Slowly add Poly 60 or Copper 7 through the skimmer (1 oz. per 10,000 gallons.) Make sure pump is running!
  4. Broadcast 1# Non-Chlorine Shock (Shock II) directly into the pool. Make sure the pump is running.
  5. Run the pump a minimum of 12 hours each day during the summer months.

Exceptions: If the temperature is unseasonably hot during the summer, you need to run the pump longer. During the winter months as the pool water becomes colder, you can run the pump less than 12 hours. However, under freezing weather conditions, run the pump continually.

Keep in mind this is only taking care of the sanitation part of your pool. You must monitor the Ph, Alkalinity, and Calcium. Bring a sample of your pool water in to the Pioneer Pool store every 45-60 days for a free computerized water analysis.

How to Clean a Green Pool

  3. Backwash filter for 2 minutes, then rinse filter for 30 seconds.

  6. Mix granular chlorine (calcium hypochlorite) in a 5 gallon bucket, 2 pounds at a time and pour into pool. Repeat the next day if necessary.
